Look who’s one

This weekend we celebrated a pretty momentous milestone.

One that felt a long, long way off this time last year.

We had planned for a garden party but with the typical British weather and forecast of rain we decided it was a safer option to hold the event indoors. The event was held at Southampton’s new cocktail bar and restaurant , The Mailrooms.

We invited Isla back from A grazing platter to create both the sweet and savoury food platters for our guests. Isla has a wonderful eye for details and uses only the finest of products.

A Greek rotisserie and salads were provided by the fantastic Sotris from blue island restaurant in Southampton.

Our patisseries where sourced from a Italian patisserie in London. We asked Nicoletta owner of Meraki baking studio to surprise us with a selection of sweets and she totally pulled it off.

To keep the kids entertained we called in Carley from my little tent adventures. She set a corner up with the cutest of teepees, fairy lights, balloons and cushions fully equipped with plenty of toys, arts and crafts and story books to keep the kids busy throughout the event.

Tables were laid with adorable peter rabbit stationary by Meri meri and a first birthday baby blue balloon display by bubble gum balloons.

For the table displays we sourced flowers from blend and bloom. Kirsty created eight wonderful displays which filled each table with the feel and scent of Spring despite what the weather was doing outside.

For the sweet table the very talented Alex from blow up created a balloon arch to frame our beautiful display of sweets. She used a beautiful palette of pastel colours to tie in with the peter rabbit theme. Blend and bloom provided us with foliage whilst our two tier cake took centre stage.

Now last but not least I have to credit the fabulous Julie from the dotti cake company. She created Theodore the most beautiful two tier peter rabbit celebration cake. The cake in itself was a piece of art that you dare not put a knife to…but lucky I did because it was honestly the most delicious cake I (and all of my guests) have ever tried. The bottom tier was banana with salted caramel buttercream and the top tier carrot with Sicilian orange buttercream.
